Der unsichtbare Scheitelstein der Welt
Eine Lektüre der Dissertation Hannah Arendts über den Liebesbegriff bei Augustin
pp. 51-62
Abstract
Hannah Arendt’s thesis on St Augustine’s Concept of Love has not yet gotten the attention it would deserve among the works of the German philosopher. In her famous biography by E. Young-Bruehl we can find some meaningful remarks about this early work, which allow for an interpretation of it as preparatory study about the role of the world in the political, a subject that becomes central only in Arendt’s later works. Our reconstruction of Arendt’s thesis tries to underline the relation between the Christian faith and a sense of community as her first attempt to bring into focus the problem of the world from a political point of view.
