The third life of subjectivity
towards a phenomenology of dreaming
pp. 457-479
Abstract
In this exploratory paper, I would like to address, or at least begin to address, a phenomenon that has seldom been a central or sustained topic of discussion among philosophers, despite its ubiquity in human experience. In those rare instances in the history of philosophy when the phenomenon in question has indeed occasioned reflection and debate, the results have been less than compelling on account of its piecemeal and periphery treatment, even in light of this phenomenon's arguably central, albeit opaque, significance for our lives.
